What is a porcelain laminate veneer?
Veneers are thin, translucent shells of porcelain. Porcelain laminate veneer is the method applied without cutting teeth and only making their front surfaces 0.3-0.5 mm thinner, where healthy teeth tissue is lost at minimum. It is the process where porcelain laminate is applied to these areas made thinner.
Under which conditions are porcelain laminate veneers applied?
Porcelain laminate veneers can be used to correct spaces between teeth (diastema closure); straighten slightly rotated teeth; correct problems in tooth shape and some bite problems. They can be an almost perfect cosmetic alternative in cases where no results are obtained with whitening in teeth with extreme coloring, stained and darkened. They can be good solutions in the restoration of teeth which are abraded or have fractures, in correcting old fillings, the color and shape of which are disturbed, in correcting imperfect and overlapping teeth (as orthodontic treatment alternative).
What are the treatment stages of this aesthetic dentistry application?
In the first visit, impressions of your teeth is taken without abrading your teeth and mock up works are done on the model obtained. In the second visit, preparations on your teeth surfaces are made and final impressions are taken with a sensitive impression material. In your next appointment, laminates are applied on your teeth.
